Holiday Robotics raises $105M for its FRIDAY wheeled humanoid

Seoul-based Holiday Robotics has secured $105 million in Series A financing to develop FRIDAY, a wheeled semi-humanoid intended for industrial work. The company argues that factory deployment requires more than impressive mobility demonstrations: robots must handle contact, timing, repeatability, safety, recovery from disruptions, and compatibility with existing operations.
FRIDAY combines a wheel-based mobile platform with an upper body for dexterous manipulation and hot-swappable batteries designed to support a full shift. Its safety-oriented hardware includes lightweight, low-inertia hands, fully back-drivable hand and arm joints, and 360-degree perception using multiple cameras and lidar sensors. Holiday says the system is meant to operate safely near people.
The robot has 64 degrees of freedom, with 40 assigned to its hands. Holiday emphasizes tactile sensing and force-aware control so the hands can detect contact and adapt while grasping, positioning, adjusting, and repeating work. It views manipulation as central to industrial value because factory tasks involve friction, alignment, variable surfaces, weight, compliance, and uncertainty.
The company is building its own full stack around a vision-language-skill approach rather than relying solely on end-to-end perception-to-action learning. Individual skills are developed and validated separately, then selected and coordinated for more complex jobs. Holiday Sim reproduces robots, skills, and environments for testing before deployment. Holiday Lab uses demonstrations, simulation results, and real-world failures to create and improve reusable skills. OASys is planned as a deployment system that also returns field experience to the broader platform.
Holiday is pursuing a field-first strategy, initially targeting measurable repetitive work in manufacturing and industrial automation, including automotive, semiconductor, and logistics settings. It is conducting private proofs of concept with industrial partners. The new capital is intended for research and engineering hiring, manufacturing readiness, further full-stack development, and team growth in Korea and the United States.
